On the 1st April 2021 the minimum wage will increase to the following: · Adult: $20.00 · Starting out minimum wage: $16.00 · Training: $16.00 A common question we get asked at NZPPA on the change is: Q: The minimum wage change will happen on a Thursday this year do we have to pay the new minimum wage from the start of the week or only from the 1st April? A: No, the minimum wage applies from the 1st April, (so from the Thursday), if the business wanted to pay from the start of the week then that is up to the employer and would be considered an agreed term. |
